Al-Nassr has issued a statement denouncing the behavior of a YouTuber who stood in front of Cristiano Ronaldo’s locker room and imitated Lionel Messi’s famous pose. When the Saudi Pro League team isn’t playing, supporters are frequently welcome to visit the dressing room. Recently, BO3OMAR22, a YouTube supporter, decided to take a peek.
He chose to imitate Messi’s walking motion from Argentina’s 2022 World Cup match against the Netherlands while standing close to Ronaldo’s locker. On that occasion, the star player for Inter Miami of today led his country to victory and was seen giving Dutch manager Louis van Gaal a hug. Despite standing in front of his biggest rival’s locker, BO3OMAR22 chose to honor the star after it swiftly gained notoriety.
Social media users quickly shared a video of the incident, showing the YouTuber mimicking Lionel Messi’s pose in front of Cristiano Ronaldo’s locker. The footage gained traction on various platforms, prompting discussions about the fan’s actions. Shortly after, Ronaldo’s team became aware of the situation and swiftly released a statement denouncing the fan’s behavior, stressing that such actions were disrespectful to both Ronaldo and the values of sportsmanship the club promotes. This quick response highlights the club’s commitment to maintaining a respectful atmosphere around its star players.
They deemed the acts “unacceptable”.
Al-Nassr swiftly criticized the YouTuber’s behavior, expressing their evident displeasure with what they saw as a disrespectful gesture towards their talisman captain. In a social media statement, they condemned his actions and labeled them irresponsible and unacceptable.
“We would like to point out that Al-Nassr Club has always been welcoming to its visitors, fans, and lovers, and throughout its long history, its doors have been open to all.
However, what happened inside the dressing room at the First Park Stadium, in terms of individual (irresponsible) actions, is unacceptable by some people who do not appreciate the value of the party they represent, nor the place and entity that left it.
“They did not respect its fans. We would like to clarify that we at Al-Nassr Club Company have directed the concerned internal departments to immediately address the issue to preserve the club’s literary, moral, and material rights, with full assurance that the club’s doors and all its facilities are open to every fan as long as they comply.”
Many were surprised by the club’s strong statement regarding what some viewed as a trivial matter, seeing the fan’s imitation of Messi’s pose as a harmless act. This backlash led to discussions about fan expressions and their context in sports. In response, the supporter, known as BO3OMAR22, quickly issued his own statement, clarifying that he meant no disrespect to Cristiano Ronaldo or Al Nassr. He explained that his actions were intended as a lighthearted tribute to Messi, not an insult to Ronaldo. This exchange underscores the complex dynamics between fans and clubs and how interpretations of respectful behavior can vary in sports.
He made a statement of his own.
After receiving criticism from the club and other internet users, the fan took to social media to address the issue and apologize for his actions. In a video he uploaded to X (formerly known as Twitter), he clarified that the whole thing was a joke and that he had made a mistake.
“I apologise if the photo bothered you. The situation was a joke and I made a mistake.”
Even though the club is upset about what BO3OMAR22 did in front of Ronaldo’s locker, they have decided to continue their tradition of letting fans into their dressing room when the team isn’t playing, reassuring fans and maintaining a sense of hope.
