According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Fulham is stepping up its efforts to hold onto Bernd Leno, Antonee Robinson, and Andreas Pereira at Craven Cottage because manager Marco Silva is anxious to ensure that more regular starters do not follow Joao Palhinha out the door.
The Portugal international completed a move worth more than £47 million to Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich earlier this week, dealing a severe blow to the Cottagers’ 2024–25 campaign preparations. As a result, with the new season quickly approaching, plans were made to draft in a replacement.
Palhinha’s departure came just after Tosin Adarabioyo moved to Chelsea, having rejected multiple contract offers from Fulham. This has increased fears of more key players leaving the club. Marco Silva is now pressuring vice-chairman and sporting director Tony Khan to block any further exits before the August 30 transfer deadline, stressing the need to protect Fulham’s core squad.
Residents of West London are keen to ensure that Palhinha is the last major departure
Despite the pressure to cash in before the transfer window closes, Fulham is resolute in their decision to keep their standout players. Silva, in particular, is determined to retain Leno, Robinson, and Pereira, who have all attracted interest from other clubs.
The potential departure of the trio, who collectively earn £230,000 per week, could have a significant impact on the club’s wage bill. However, the Cottagers are determined not to compromise their squad depth, especially with the first game of the season against Manchester United looming.
After Marek Rodak left Fulham, Leno would become the only goalkeeper on the team’s books (GMS sources have been informed that Leno is wanted in the high-spending Saudi Pro League). Meanwhile, left-back Robinson has made himself known to Chelsea and Manchester United, two rivals of West London.
Bernd Leno | Marek Rodak | |
Pass completion percentage | 78.0 | 63.0 |
Save percentage | 74.2 | 53.8 |
Clean sheet percentage | 25.3 | 25.0 |
Saves | 3.36 | 1.50 |
Goals against | 1.38 | 1.75 |
A creative midfielder, Pereira joined the capital club for £10 million after leaving Manchester United two years ago. Aston Villa, who will play in the Champions League this coming season, and La Liga powerhouse Atletico Madrid are keeping an eye on Pereira after he excelled for the Cottagers the previous season.
Though Fulham has already persuaded Silva to stay as head coach and given assurances that his team will be strengthened rather than destroyed, GMS sources have learned that Fulham is keen to ensure that Palhinha is the last big-name departure before the transfer window closes next month.
First talks regarding the relocation of Craven Cottage have taken place.
The West Londoners have held preliminary talks about a move for the Luton Town central defender as they look to replace Adarabioyo. GMS sources have been informed that Fulham seriously considers giving Teden Mengi a quickfire route back into the Premier League.
The 22-year-old could benefit from the Hatters’ relegation to the Championship. Silva identified him as a possible acquisition, wanting to strengthen his options at the center of the defense. The player has top-flight experience, having made 30 appearances in the competition during the 2023–2024 season.
Following Palhinha’s transfer to Bayern Munich, Fulham actively sought a new defensive midfielder. GMS sources have revealed that talks with Fluminense have resumed to secure Andre, who had verbally agreed to personal terms earlier this year. Fulham are pushing to complete the deal as Marco Silva looks to reinforce his squad ahead of the new season and avoid further weakening the team’s midfield. The club is keen to finalize the transfer before the window closes to maintain competitiveness in the Premier League.
