Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah may not be playing for the club for long at Stamford Bridge after being left out of the preseason tour of the United States.

The 25-year-old, who has been with the Blues since he was eight, made 17 appearances in the previous campaign and made an impression under Mauricio Pochettino after fully recovering from a hamstring injury.

Although Chalobah’s contract expires in 2028, Chelsea is looking for offers close to £25 million. Consequently, despite participating in the early preseason under new head coach Enzo Maresca, he is not traveling to the United States.

Blues Want to Sanction Departure, Based on Chalobah’s Omission

GIVEMESPORT is aware that the West Londoners wanted to travel with a small group to guarantee a close-knit squad, so they made the difficult and deliberate decision to leave Chalobah off the roster for the preseason tour of the United States.

Chalobah has yet to be selected, with right-footed center-backs Wesley Fofana, Alex Disasi, and recent addition Tosin Adarabioyo chosen ahead of Chalobah. Maresca is interested in examining right-sided defender Josh Acheampong more closely. The 18-year-old, who can play right-back or center-back like Chalobah, made his Premier League debut in May during the 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Although leaving Chalobah out will not go over well with the supporters, it is evident that Chelsea wants to sell. The Blues academy graduate has been made available in more than one window; a year ago, he turned down a deadline-day transfer to Nottingham Forest after a proposed loan to Bayern Munich fell through.

Chalobah is well-liked in the Chelsea locker room and has always been determined to fight for his starting spot. This is especially true now that he has received encouragement and starts from former head coach Pochettino during the latter part of the previous campaign.

Trevoh Chalobah is likely to leave Chelsea and is targeting a club that plays European football. Manchester United is interested in the versatile defender. It is keen to sign a second center-back, having already secured Leny Yoro from Lille. Chalobah’s ability to play right-back could also be helpful if Aaron Wan-Bissaka departs for West Ham. United are still monitoring Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. Still, budget constraints make Chalobah a more affordable option, with De Ligt valued at £45m and Everton only willing to consider offers over £70m for Branthwaite.

Newcastle United have also shown interest in Chalobah as they seek a right-sided center-back, particularly after Jamaal Lascelles’ ACL injury. While they don’t have European football next season, they’re building for future contention. Fulham, too, are eyeing Chalobah to replace Tosin Adarabioyo, but they would need him to reconsider his desire for a club with European competition.

Gilchrist Set for Championship Loan Move as Chelsea Plan Multiple Exits

Alfie Gilchrist, Chelsea’s promising 20-year-old defender often likened to John Terry, has been left out of the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, with the club planning a Championship loan for his development. Both Preston North End and Sheffield United have made offers. At the same time, Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers showed interest earlier in the window. Despite links to Serie A side Como, where Cesc Fàbregas is manager, Chelsea prefers to keep him in England, avoiding using an international loan spot, similar to Levi Colwill’s loan to Huddersfield Town in 2021/22.

Chelsea are also working on other player departures. Andrey Santos is set to return to Strasbourg on loan after spending last season with the French club. Newly signed American left-back Caleb Wiley, who recently joined Atlanta United for £8.5 million, is also expected to join Strasbourg following the Olympics. Lesley Ugochukwu, cut from France’s provisional Olympic squad, will likely go out on loan, too, with Eintracht Frankfurt and Fulham interested.

Chelsea Plan Lukaku Sale as Napoli Negotiations Continue

Chelsea are still intent on offloading Romelu Lukaku, with the Belgian striker agreeing to a pay cut to facilitate a move to Napoli. However, the Italian club must first resolve the future of Victor Osimhen and meet Chelsea’s £38 million asking price before any deal can be finalized.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic remains a potential departure after being offered to Genoa. Though his absence from Chelsea’s U.S. tour is due to a minor injury, his future remains uncertain. In search of a permanent replacement for Josep Martinez, Genoa lacks the funds to secure Petrovic outright, but Chelsea is signaling his availability.

Kepa Arrizabalaga is also likely to exit, with the Spaniard keen on a return to Real Madrid. Talks with Al-Ittihad were advanced, but the Saudi club ultimately chose not to pursue the move further.

Gallagher’s Future Uncertain Amid Transfer Interest

Conor Gallagher’s future at Chelsea remains unclear, with the club open to selling the midfielder if their £50 million-plus valuation is met. Chelsea are seeking a fee similar to the £55 million received for Mason Mount, though Atletico Madrid and Tottenham, both interested parties, currently value Gallagher at closer to £40 million.

Meanwhile, striker Armando Broja, who has joined the U.S. pre-season tour, could also leave. Everton are keen, though a move might depend on the sale of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Wolves have dropped out of the race after signing Jorgen Strand Larsen, and AC Milan opted for Alvaro Morata over Broja. After a disappointing loan spell, Fulham is not considering a permanent move.

Broja will be joined in the U.S. by new signing Marc Guiu, who arrived from Barcelona for £5 million. However, Omari Kellyman, a £19 million recruit, will remain at Cobham to continue his recovery from an injury sustained at Aston Villa.
