Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is expected to feel a sense of loyalty to his current club as he contemplates a potential exit from Anfield this summer. However, transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT that Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim will face a significant decision regarding whether to cash in on the player if he becomes the next manager of the Reds.
As the 2024/25 campaign approaches, uncertainty looms over who will lead the Premier League title challengers. Jurgen Klopp is set to step down at the end of the season due to feeling “out of energy” after a successful tenure at Merseyside.
GIVEMESPORT sources recently indicated that Liverpool is progressing in talks to appoint Amorim as Klopp’s successor, positioning him as the frontrunner for the role. This momentum follows the recent appointments of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes in key behind-the-scenes positions, which have enhanced the club’s ability to make strategic decisions. Nevertheless, doubts persist regarding Salah’s future as the club prepares for a new chapter.
According to talkSPORT, Liverpool is preparing for a renewed offer for Mohamed Salah from the financially ambitious Saudi Pro League as the summer transfer window approaches. Interest from Al-Ittihad remains persistent, and Al-Hilal is contemplating whether to enter negotiations.
Reports indicate that the Egypt international has already been presented with a three-year contract that would position him among the league’s highest earners. Salah has scored an impressive 209 goals during his time at Anfield, and an offer exceeding £70 million is anticipated in the coming months.
Cristiano Ronaldo holds the most lucrative contract in Saudi Arabia, having secured a deal worth over £170 million per year when he joined Al-Nassr. However, statistics reveal that Salah has outperformed the Portuguese star in several metrics this season.
Salah was a top target for Saudi clubs early in the campaign, prompting Liverpool to fend off a £150 million bid from Al-Ittihad just hours before the transfer window closed in September. Expectations are rising for further offers as the window reopens.
With Salah entering the final year of his £350,000-per-week contract, potential suitors are eyeing an opportunity to secure him at a reduced price. This situation places Liverpool in a precarious negotiating position, risking losing him as a free agent at the end of next season if they do not accept an incoming proposal.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth recently told GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool must either persuade Salah to sign an extension or allow his departure when the transfer window opens. Keeping him on his current contract poses significant risks. Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will prioritize internal discussions regarding Klopp’s eventual successor.
Dean Jones believes Liverpool must carefully consider whether to let Mohamed Salah pursue a new challenge ahead of next season, as the upcoming summer transfer window represents their last chance to secure a substantial fee if they do not negotiate a new contract with him.
The respected journalist is confident that Ruben Amorim would significantly determine the 31-year-old’s future if he takes over as manager. However, there is a strong possibility that the former Roma star may prefer to stay on Merseyside as the club embarks on a new era, despite being labeled as “completely out of form” by ex-defender Steve Nicol.
Jones told GIVEMESPORT:
“Mohamed Salah is being linked with an exit again and if fresh bids arrive, Liverpool have a big decision to make.
“Obviously, Amorim will get input into how he sees this team evolving and how he views Salah within that team if he is appointed as Liverpool’s next manager.
“But this is the last chance to really cash in on Salah for big money. Salah definitely will feel a loyalty to Liverpool and might want to help them transition into a new era without Jurgen Klopp, but there always comes a time for change, and it’s not a transfer that can be ruled out for the moment.”
Liverpool is in a competitive race with West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Serie A giants AC Milan to secure Tosin Adarabioyo, according to The Guardian. All four clubs have identified the Fulham defender as a potential bargain due to his impending free agency as he enters the final months of his contract.
The report indicates that the 26-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, intensifying interest in his services. However, Fulham is eager to persuade him to reject a move to Merseyside and instead agree to new terms, having made 23 appearances this season.
Fulham is reportedly willing to make Adarabioyo one of the club’s highest earners to retain him. Meanwhile, Liverpool is considering a move for the defender, especially with Joel Matip nearing the end of his Anfield contract and a desire for additional depth in central defense.
However, the Reds may be trailing in the chase, as GIVEMESPORT sources have recently revealed that the former Manchester City player is back on West Ham’s radar. He is included in their list of potential signings, with acquiring a new center-back being a top priority for technical director Tim Steidten.
