£34m Star ‘Wants to Remain at Liverpool’ Despite Uncertainty – Saudi Pro League

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is keen to remain at Anfield rather than pursue a new challenge when the transfer window opens in the upcoming weeks. According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, incoming manager Arne Slot may have to keep the Egypt international even if he intends to sell.

The Reds are poised to enter a new era as Jurgen Klopp prepares to depart following against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the season’s last game. Having exhausted himself during another campaign in which his team fought for silverware, Klopp will step down from his role.

Slot is set to take over from the German coach after Liverpool agreed on a compensation package of up to £9.4 million with Eredivisie giants Feyenoord. During the initial phase of his tenure, he will have the chance to mold the team by overseeing incoming and outgoing transfers.

According to The Athletic, Mohamed Salah does not desire to seek a new opportunity ahead of the 2024/25 season, leading Liverpool to believe he will not follow Jurgen Klopp out of Anfield.

The report indicates that the club has included the winger in their plans for next season, despite rising speculation regarding a potential summer transfer as he enters the final year of his £350,000-per-week contract on Merseyside.

Liverpool is reportedly preparing for renewed interest from the Saudi Pro League. Al-Ittihad’s pursuit of Salah remains strong after he has demonstrated his effectiveness in front of the goal. Additionally, domestic rivals Al-Hilal are considering a bid in the region £70 million.

Transfer insider Dean Jones recently informed GIVEMESPORT that the Reds plan to discuss Salah’s future with him at the end of the season, and it’s possible he may consider the lucrative offers available in the Middle East.

Sheth emphasizes that Salah holds power over his future, as Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, cannot force his exit while he still has time left on his contract, even if a summer bid is accepted.

The Sky Sports reporter has picked up on murmurs from Salah’s camp indicating that the 31-year-old wishes to remain a key player under incoming coach Arne Slot. Salah has thrived since his £34 million move from Roma nearly seven years ago.

Sheth shared with GIVEMESPORT:

“If you look at it in black and white, Mohamed Salah is under contract at Liverpool. As far as that goes, he will be a Liverpool player next season.

“The noises we’re getting out of Liverpool are that they expect him to be at Anfield next season. Some of the noises emanating from the Mohamed Salah side would be that he wants to stay at Liverpool.

“If all of that comes to fruition, he will remain at the club. Ultimately, it is Mohamed Salah’s decision because he is under contract at Liverpool, so he will decide whether he will stay or not.

“If Liverpool say it is the right time to sell him, Mohamed Salah does not have to go.”

Incoming sporting director Richard Hughes is poised to lead negotiations for a new contract with Salah and his representatives, as reported by The Times. He is expected to play a significant role in the Premier League club’s future under Arne Slot’s management.

Following the Reds’ recent qualification, the chance to compete in the Champions League is likely to attract the interest of the Saudi Arabian target, who has scored 25 goals this season. Additionally, Michael Edwards, Fenway Sports Group’s chief executive of football, is a strong proponent of securing a new deal for Salah.
