2024–2025 Media Accreditation Applications Start – Saudi Pro League

The Saudi Pro League 2024-25 (SPL) has officially opened the media accreditation application process for the season. This is a crucial step for both domestic and foreign media professionals who wish to cover the league. SPL requests that qualified individuals apply via the official SPL accreditation website at Footballnews.today.

Saudi Pro League urges press personnel to apply for accreditation using the official portal during the allotted 30-day period. Card distribution will start on Tuesday, August 20, at the Saudi Pro League Head Office and its regional offices.

Content makers can now apply for accreditation on a seasonal or match-week basis, and overseas media can use the website to book matches for a particular match week after applying for seasonal passes. Content makers also have access to additional premium destinations and levels.

The following requirements must be satisfied by applicants for accreditation:

– Possess a current Saudi Sports Media Federation membership card (exclusively for local media).

– Be a part of a recognized media outlet.

– Present a letter of appointment from the affiliated media organization.

– Have at least 18 years of age.

– At the time of application, not be subject to a suspension or ban related to sports.

– Have never been found guilty of a crime or felony that carried a sentence of more than six months in jail.

Saudi Pro League completes the training and certification program.

After thorough training and certification, the Saudi Pro League (SPL) has qualified 250 SPL and club-affiliated employees for important operational positions.

Events Management International (EMI) organized the three-day training program. Prominent Subject Matter Experts (SME) with over 30 years of expertise in significant international occasions, including the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games, presented the sessions.

After the training, participants had to pass a challenging online exam to receive their diplomas. The Match Director, Commercial Officer, Media Coordinator, and Operations Coordinator, as well as safety and security responsibilities, were among the essential operational jobs.

“For the first time ever, we have been able to bring together this many affiliated staff in an effort to raise the level of league operations,” Omar Mugharbel, the chief executive officer of Saudi Pro League, stated as he opened the meetings, which were held in person and virtually at the SPL headquarters in Riyadh.

“This program lays the groundwork for a sporting experience that is on par with the best leagues in the world in line with the objectives of the SPL Transformation Strategy. But it is only the first step in a journey of continuous improvement and empowerment of our affiliated staff.”

Mugharbel added: “The guidance has been instrumental in equipping our team with the skills necessary to elevate our service levels to the highest international standards. Our collaboration with EMI has enabled us to empower our staff across a range of critical roles, from match management and commercial operations to media coordination and safety.”

With training in a wide range of areas including pre-match preparation, checklists and Match Coordination Meetings (MCM), matchday checklists and procedures, crisis management, communication protocols, three-step anti-discrimination procedures, commercial program procedures, marketing procedures, media procedures, and safety and security procedures, the newly certified staff will be essential to preserving the integrity, professionalism, and safety of the Saudi Pro League as it gets ready to kick off the 2024–25 season on August 22.

One of the six pillars of the Saudi Pro League Transformation Strategy, the program’s success reflects the SPL’s steadfast dedication to developing its organizational potential. The other pillars include:

  • Constructing a player management ecosystem.
  • Building a framework for club development.
  • Improving broadcast and commercial rights.
  • Improving the competition’s operations.
  • Building football infrastructure.
