Seven Leagues Cup matches occurred on Sunday evening, with several teams vying to secure their spots in the Round of 32. Here isHere’s a summary of all the excitement and tension that unfolded.

Philadelphia Union’s reliable standout, Dániel Gazdag, netted an equalizer in the 88th minute, marking their sole shot on target. However, he later missed his penalty kick, while Cruz Azul successfully converted all five of theirs following a 1-1 draw.
In another matchup, FC Juárez, a third Liga MX team, triumphed in a penalty shootout (4-1) after staging a comeback in a thrilling contest against St. Louis, which ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
Meanwhile, one of the few teams to secure a regulation victory was Toronto FC, which celebrated its first-ever League Cup win with a 2-1 defeat of Pachuca. Kobe Franklin’s inaugural goal for the club proved to be the decisive factor in this match.
The late matches showcased an exciting clash between Chivas and LA Galaxy. Unfortunately, Chicharito was sidelined due to an injury sustained during warm-ups, preventing his return.
The MLS side believed they had orchestrated a thrilling 2-1 comeback until Cade Cowell scored an equalizer in the 91st minute, ultimately leading to Chivas’s exit in the penalty shootout.
In another thrilling encounter, Necaxa netted three unanswered goals to seize the top spot from Seattle Sounders with a 3-1 victory. This defeat marks only the third loss for the MLS team at Lumen Field this season, having played 15 matches there.

Following their victory over Atlanta United, Santos Laguna advanced alongside D.C. United will meet the eventual champion of Group East 1 in the next stage. Toronto FC secured the top position but will encounter a challenging matchup against Inter Miami in the upcoming round. Meanwhile, Pachuca will face Tigres.
Despite their loss, Philadelphia Union finished first in their group ahead of Cruz Azul. Additionally, Orlando City’s determination allowed them to claim the top spot over CF Montreal, while San Luis was eliminated.

Liga MX heavyweights Chivas also fell short, as LA Galaxy topped their group and the San Jose Earthquakes secured second place.
