Atlético Madrid is reportedly on the brink of a significant acquisition, with Argentine international Julián Álvarez set to join their ranks from Manchester City.
As per David Ornstein of The Athletic, negotiations have reached the final phase, with discussions focused on the total transfer fee and payment terms.
Manchester City initially signed Álvarez from River Plate for £14 million in January 2022, and they are expected to receive around £70 million for his transfer.
It’s clear that the 24-year-old is eager to make the move to Atlético Madrid, and agreeing on personal terms is expected to be a smooth process.
Álvarez, a three-time major trophy winner with Argentina, including the 2022 World Cup, showcased his potential in the 54 matches he played for Manchester City last season, scoring 19 goals and delivering 13 assists.

According to Diario AS, five La Liga clubs are showing strong interest in signing an attacker from Real Madrid’s ranks.
The player in question is Juanmi Latasa, who has just completed his second consecutive loan stint away from the club.
After joining Getafe for the 2022/23 season, the Spanish forward returned to the Azulones for another year last summer.
Latasa had a more significant impact at the Estadio Coliseum this time, making 32 La Liga appearances and scoring two goals.
When all was said and done, the Getafe brass opted against making Latasa’s signing permanent.
The 23-year-old has since rejoined Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid squad at Valdebebas.
