Harry Kane netted a hat-trick as Bayern Munich triumphed 6-1 against promoted Holstein Kiel, securing the top spot in the Bundesliga with a perfect nine points after three matches. This victory marked Bayern’s fourth consecutive win in all competitions under new coach Vincent Kompany, who is eager to reclaim the title after last season’s defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayern leads the league with nine points, two points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig in third. The Bavarians are set to host Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Bayern made a sensational start, scoring three goals within the first 13 minutes as Kiel struggled defensively. Jamal Musiala scored in the first minute after Kiel failed to clear their lines. Kane doubled the lead six minutes later, capitalizing on a mistake by Lewis Holtby, whose pass was intercepted by Serge Gnabry.
Bayern’s relentless pressure continued, resulting in another defensive blunder from Kiel. Musiala dribbled past two defenders before providing a cutback that Nicolai Remberg inadvertently turned into his net. Kane added his second just before halftime with a shot that hit the post and went in.
Substitute Michael Olise made it 5-0 in the 65th minute, scoring on the rebound for his first league goal. Kiel’s Armin Gigovic managed a late consolation goal. Still, Kane capped off the rout with a decisive penalty in stoppage time, marking his first hat-trick of the season.
Meanwhile, Victor Boniface scored twice as Bayer Leverkusen bounced back from a rare Bundesliga defeat with a convincing 4-1 victory over Hoffenheim. Boniface assisted Martin Terrier’s opening goal, while Florian Wirtz converted a penalty to seal the win.
Leverkusen’s Bounce Back and High-Stakes Action Across Europe
Bayer Leverkusen rebounded impressively from their recent 3-2 defeat to RB Leipzig, marking the first loss for Xabi Alonso’s title-winning team in the Bundesliga in 15 months. Leipzig, meanwhile, dropped points for the first time this season in a goalless draw with Union Berlin, where goalkeeper Frederik Ronnow made a crucial penalty save.
Real Madrid prevailed 2-0 after a fierce battle against Real Sociedad in La Liga, thanks to second-half penalties from Vinícius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé. The match was a high-octane affair in the Basque Country, with both teams squandering several chances, including three shots hitting the home side’s woodwork. In the 58th minute, Madrid took the lead when Vinícius converted a penalty after Sergio Gomez handled the ball. Mbappé sealed the victory with his own penalty in the 75th minute after Vinícius was fouled. Carlo Ancelotti’s side remains second in the league, now with 11 points, just one behind Barcelona, who face fifth-placed Girona on Sunday.
In Serie A, AC Milan thrived with a commanding 4-0 victory over Venezia, scoring four goals before the half-hour mark to secure their season’s first victory following a dismal beginning that included two draws and a loss. Theo Hernández opened the scoring just two minutes in with a shot from a tight angle that deflected off Venezia goalkeeper Jesse Joronen.
Milan doubled their lead in the 16th minute with Youssouf Fofana firing in from a low corner. The match tilted decisively when Christian Pulisic converted a penalty in the 25th minute, followed by another spot-kick from Tammy Abraham four minutes later, firmly removing the game from the players’ grasp of newly promoted visitors. Venezia thought they had scored a late consolation goal. Still, it was disallowed after a VAR review for a reckless challenge by Hans Nicolussi Caviglia on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, leading to his dismissal.
Juventus were held to a goalless draw at Empoli. This result momentarily puts them at the top of the Serie A table before Sunday’s matches.
In Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain reclaimed their spot at the top of the league with a 3-1 home victory over Brest, powered by a double from Ousmane Dembélé and a stunning long-range goal from Fabián Ruiz. Romain Del Castillo had given Brest the lead shortly before the half-hour mark with a penalty following a foul by Nuno Mendes on Ludovic Ajorque.
PSG equalized in the 42nd minute through Dembélé’s header, assisted by Marco Asensio’s precise cross. Fabián then put PSG ahead with a brilliant strike in the 73rd minute. Dembélé capped off the scoring just seconds later by pouncing on a loose ball after a counterattack, helping the Parisians achieve a perfect 12 points from four matches, two clear of Marseille and Monaco, who also won earlier on Saturday.
