Deco: Barcelona “could not be happier” with the former player and “categorically deny” the departure of the sporting director – La Liga

After another challenging summer transfer window, Barcelona has responded angrily to reports circulating in Spain that Deco is considering resigning from his position as the team’s sporting director. In recent seasons, the 27-time Spanish champions have struggled financially. “The club would like to state that it could not be happier with the job Deco is doing and refute this article,” a Barcelona club statement read.

Reportedly from Spain, Barcelona “categorically denies” that Deco, a former player who is now a sporting director, is thinking about quitting.

Deco, a 2004–2008 team member, was reportedly considering his options at Camp Nou in the wake of a challenging summer transfer window.

However, the Spanish powerhouses have categorically refuted the rumors, stating that Deco’s work is excellent and they “could not be happier.”

“We categorically deny the news that appeared on Sept. 1 in Diario Sport, placing in doubt the continuity of our sporting director,” Barcelona said in a statement.”

“In response to the piece titled ‘Deco, disappointed, meditating his future,’ the club would like to state that it could not be happier with the job Deco is doing and refute this article that has appeared at the end of the transfer window.”

In 2023, Deco resigned from his position as an agent to take a three-year position as sporting director at his previous team.

The former midfield player is in charge of the team’s transfer business, a challenging position in recent years.

Over the past few years, Barca has faced financial difficulties and has operated on a tight budget for new players.

They had hoped to sign as many as five players this summer, including Nico Williams, the winger for Atletico Bilbao, but they only succeeded in signing two: Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

The club was also linked to Federico Chiesa, Liverpool’s Stefan Bajcetic, and a return for Joao Cancelo.

But because of their limited resources, they were unable to sign a left winger, a holding midfielder, or a defender. Instead, they could only sign Olmo after Andreas Christensen sustained a long-term injury, which made room for new players.

After joining RB Leipzig for €55 million, Olmo missed the season’s first two games. However, he finally made his debut when He scored the game-winning goal; he came off the bench in a thrilling 2-1 victory over Ray Vallecano.

France forward Kylian Mbappe says there is “no pressure” on him at Real Madrid, saying, “I’m here to be Kylian.”

When Real Madrid’s sensational new addition, Kylian Mbappe, finally opened his league account with the team on Sunday night, there was a moment of relief around the Santiago Bernabeu. Mbappe scored twice in the 2-0 victory, including once from the penalty spot. Still, he claimed in the post-match interview that he never felt under pressure to score quickly for the Spanish powerhouses.

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has stated that he joined his new team “to be Kylian” and that he feels “no pressure” from anyone.

Mbappe, 25, made a sensational free transfer from PSG to Madrid over the summer. The World Cup winner scored in his European Super Cup debut match against Atalanta.

However, he did not score in his first three La Liga games, as Real lost points in draws with Las Palmas and Mallorca.

However, Mbappe finally registered a point on Sunday when he scored both goals in his team’s 2-0 victory over Real Betis. Following the game, he told reporters he didn’t feel under pressure.

“The pressure I have is to adapt to the team,” he explained.

“I’ve scored goals all my career; I’ll score goals for sure. The goals will come. Three games [without scoring] are a lot for me, but it’s OK, I have the confidence of my team-mates.”

“There’s no pressure, it’s football,”

“I have my quality. I’m here to be Kylian. There’s no pressure. I’m happy, I want to work.”

The forward also told Real Madrid TV that it “was a great moment,”

“I’ve been waiting to score at this legendary stadium, the best in the world. The fans give me a lot of affection, even when I wasn’t scoring.”

Not only was his new recruit off to a great start, but his manager Carlo Ancelotti also praised Vinicius Jr., the Brazilian forward, for allowing Mbappe to take the penalty that led to another goal.

This happened after Vinicius scored a penalty against Betis and took one during the midweek match against Las Palmas.

“We’ve never put pressure on him to score goals,” Ancelotti said at his press conference.”

“Kylian had a good game. He was very effective in the area; he took his chances and worked hard.”

“It was important for him to score, but we evaluate the collective work.”

“Vinicius was very altruistic, letting Kylian take the penalty, They have a good relationship.”

Madrid moved to second place in the standings with eight points after the victory over Betis. However, they are still four points behind leaders Barcelona.
