Five LALIGA EA SPORTS Stars Win Copa America Title – La Liga

The 2024 Copa America concluded with a thrilling 1-0 extra-time victory for Argentina over Colombia, again crowning the Albiceleste as champions. Among the heroes were five standout LA LIGA EA SPORTS players who played pivotal roles in Argentina’s incredible journey to the top.

This latest triumph secures Argentina’s second consecutive Copa America title, adding to their 2022 World Cup victory in Qatar. With this win, Argentina has become the first South American team to achieve the prestigious’ Triple Crown,’ winning three major international tournaments: the 2021 Copa America, the 2022 World Cup, and the 2024 Copa America. On a global scale, only Spain has matched this feat, having won two European Championships and a World Cup between 2008 and 2012.

Atlético Madrid’s Nahuel Molina and Rodrigo De Paul added another Copa America title, cementing their status as critical figures for Argentina. De Paul, the engine of Argentina’s midfield, played the entire final, driving his team forward with energy and vision. Meanwhile, full-back Nahuel Molina, recovering from a muscle injury throughout the tournament, made a significant impact when he came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute of the final. His return to form was a testament to his importance, recalling his crucial contributions during Argentina’s World Cup triumph two years ago.

In addition to De Paul and Molina, three other LALIGA EA SPORTS players lifted the Copa America trophy, rounding off a remarkable tournament for Argentina’s Spanish-based contingent.

Following their remarkable Copa America victory with Argentina, Rodrigo De Paul and Nahuel Molina are set to enjoy a three-week break before rejoining Atlético de Madrid. The two stars are expected back in the first days of August, just one week before the 2024/25 LALIGA EA SPORTS season begins. Atlético Madrid’s campaign starts on August 19th with a home match against Villarreal CF. De Paul and Molina will aim to carry their international success into the domestic season.

With this triumph, the duo etch their names into Atlético’s rich history, becoming the fifth and sixth players from the club to win the Copa America, following in the footsteps of legendary figures like Baltazar (1989), Diego Godín, Diego Forlán (2011), and Ángel Correa (2021).

The city of Seville, too, is in celebration, as it boasts the highest number of Copa America and Euro 2024 champions, with five players across both tournaments. This remarkable achievement bridges the divide between Seville’s fierce footballing rivals, Sevilla FC and Real Betis, whose players have returned home as champions.

For Sevilla FC, Gonzalo Montiel and Marcos Acuña proudly carried the club’s colors throughout the tournament. Montiel, who famously secured Argentina’s World Cup triumph with the winning penalty in 2022, continued his streak of silverware with this Copa America title. Acuña, recently back from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest, was sidelined in the final due to a muscle injury but remained a crucial squad member. Both players are set to take a brief holiday before rejoining Sevilla FC’s pre-season preparations. They are expected to return before the team’s pre-season tour to Japan and ahead of their season opener against UD Las Palmas on August 16th.

Across town at Real Betis, center-back Germán Pezzella, a stalwart of Argentina’s three consecutive international titles—2021 Copa America, 2022 World Cup, and 2024 Copa America—will also return to Seville. Although Pezzella did not feature in the final and saw limited action during the tournament, his experience and leadership are invaluable. After a short break, the 33-year-old will rejoin Manuel Pellegrini’s squad in preparation for Betis’ opening match of the LA LIGA EA SPORTS season against Girona FC on August 15th. Pezzella’s presence will be essential as Betis builds on a solid domestic campaign and pushes for success in the upcoming season.

The city is set for an exciting season, with players from both Sevilla clubs now crowned champions. These decorated players return with fresh accolades and ambitions for their respective clubs.
