Although it’s the off-season, several significant developments in La Liga EA SPORTS occurred this past week, including a coaching change at UD Las Palmas. Here are the main headlines from Spanish football:
UD Las Palmas has appointed Luis Carrión as their new coach for the 2024/25 La Liga EA SPORTS season. Carrión previously managed Real Oviedo, where he nearly secured promotion. He now aims to elevate UD Las Palmas to new heights at the Estadio de Gran Canaria, focusing on building a competitive team that can challenge for top honors in the upcoming season.
Nacho has announced his departure from Real Madrid. The 34-year-old center-back has spent his entire career at the club and recently won his sixth Champions League title. The center-back is set to join Al Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia, bidding an emotional farewell to the Bernabéu.
Girona FC has strengthened its attack by signing Abel Ruiz from SC Braga. The Spanish striker, a product of FC Barcelona’s academy, returns to Spain after a successful spell in Portugal, where he won both the Taça de Portugal and the Taça da Liga.
Jaime Mata is staying in La Liga EA SPORTS but will don the yellow of UD Las Palmas next season. The Getafe CF legend has left the Coliseum to join the busy summer transfer activity at the Canary Islands club.
Marc Roca will remain at Real Betis following an impressive 2023/24 season on loan from Leeds United. Los Verdiblancos prioritized securing Roca’s signature, and the midfielder has officially signed a new contract that extends his stay at the club until 2029, demonstrating the team’s commitment to his development and future contributions.
Spain has reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 in Germany, where they will face the host nation. The team has been performing excellently, with wingers Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams standing out as a dynamic duo in the attack for La Roja.
Jude Bellingham made headlines during the tournament with a stunning overhead kick that equalized for England in the 96th minute against Slovakia in their Last 16 match. This goal brought the score to 1-1, and England secured a 2-1 victory in extra time, keeping their trophy hopes alive.
Numerous La Liga EA SPORTS players compete in Copa America, with 10 of the 16 teams featuring at least one La Liga player. Two of the four groups have concluded, with world champions Argentina topping Group A, thanks to solid performances from their Spain-based players. Brazil is also poised to advance after Vinícius and Sávio led them to a 4-1 victory over Paraguay.
